Committees
For the 2010 - 2011 municipal year we both serve on 2 council committees.
Council committees meet 4 times in each municipal year (except for Planning & Licencing which usually meets every five weeks to determine planning applications within an eight week statutory period)

Richard is also a member of The Standards Commitee & The Grants Panel in 2010 - 2011
Additionally, Richard is the Chairman of the Climate Change Panel and is a member of the Council Constitutional Working Party and a member of the Scrutiny Panel into Council Customer Care.
In previous years Judi has served on Environmental Services & Community Services and Richard has served on Environmental Services & Scrutiny
In addition to the committee meetings we also attend the full meetings of the council.
There are 5 full council meetings in each municipal year. The May meeting is largely ceremonial in which the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor are invested.
The following 4 meetings (July, October, February and April) are working meetings in which the full council reviews the work of the previous quarters committee meetings.
All of the meetings are open to the public, although some agenda items may be confidential and accordingly members of the public have to withdraw from the meeting when such items are discussed.
The purpose of the council committees are summarised below:
Community Services
This committee deals with leisure policy and strategy, parks and open spaces, cemeteries, leisure centres & halls, housing strategy, housing needs, homelessness and community care.
Environmental Services
This committee deals with waste collection & recycling, street scene, parking, environmental health and markets.
Finance & Personnel
This committee deals with financial, audit and personnel issues, Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Planning & Licencing
This committee deals with planning applications, local development framework, taxi licensing, pub and club licensing.
Policy & Resources
This committee deals with council-wide policy & strategy, community safety, community planning, economic development, health matters, property, procurement, grants to external bodies, capital allocations, communications, elections and town centres.
Scrutiny
This committee deals with performance, in depth reviews of services and scrutiny of council decisions.
Service Organisation Board
This committee deals with the management of contracted services, leisure and waste collection.
Standards
This committee deals with Council Member standards of conduct.
