Although Judi & myself are Borough Councillors for Cheshunt Central & Cheshunt North wards, we actually live in Rosedale Ward, on the western edge of Cheshunt.

For a brief period (2003 - 2007) Rosedale was represented by a BNP Councillor, at the time the only BNP Councillor in the Home Counties.

It was really this fact that led to us becoming actively involved with the local Conservative Association.

We supported the campaign of Dee Hart, a local resident who won the seat back for the Conservative Party in 2007 with a comfortable majority.

This year we will be campaigning with Councillor David Lewis who is defending the second Rosedale seat for the Tory Party.

David has started his election campaign this week with the distribution of a newsletter which may be seen by clicking here.

Rosedale In Touch Spring 2010

Rosedale is the smallest ward in the Borough, it is unique in having only 2 councillors and therefore having 2 years out of 4 without a Borough Council elecion.

David has represented Rosedale Ward since 2005, when he won a by election.

He is currently the Chairman of the Broxbourne Parliamentary Conservative Association and is the Chairman of Broxbourne Council's Finance & Resources Committee.

I was quite impressed with Andrew Adonis on The Marr show today - his views on the BA dispute are, in my humble opinion, quite correct.

Perhaps of more interest is the clear divide between the views of Adonis and the UNITE union, a major donor to New Labour and a union effectively run by Gordon Brown's stooge, Charlie Wheeler.

Adonis clearly lurks on the right wing of New Labour and could conceivably have a foot in the camp of a future Tory government.

It will be interesting to see how Brown and the traditional left of the Labour Party will try to disassociate themselves from Adonis and try to limit the damage with their union paymasters.

Lord Adonis - future Transport Minister in the next Conservative Government perhaps isn't quite as unlikely this evening as it was 24 hours ago.

Isn't it intersting how clever people can say the most insensitive (arguably stupid) things.

Dr Maggie Atkinson is, for the moment, England's "Childrens Commissioner".

If this quote, attributed to her, is accurate then one just has to wonder at her suitability for her role.

"What [Venables and Thompson] did was exceptionally unpleasant and the fact that a little boy ended up dead is not something the nation can easily forget, but they shouldn't have been tried in an adult court because they were still children."

So, we now understand that the torture and murder of a toddler is "exceptionally unpleasant" - not, as some of us may think, a barbaric atrocity.

I am also sure that many people will question her view on the rights and wrongs of 10 year olds being tried in adult courts.

Dr Atkinson's comments are incedibly insensitive and will have caused a great deal of hurt to the Bulger family.

The debate about the recall to prison of John Venables for, as yet, reasons unknown has opened up an interesting debate.

I don't consider myself to be qualified to objectively comment on the legal nicities of this matter.

However if Venables & Thompson had been kept in prison for their crimes, as many people believe should have happened, then the whole recall issue would be academic.

I was really pleased to read that the 3 Tory MP's on the PAC, including Broxbourne's Charles Walker, have refused to participate in the forthcoming session "investigating" Lord Ashcroft.

Whilst I agree that the whole Ashcroft business could have been handled differently (i.e. better) by the Conservative Party, I believe that this is nothing more than a politically motivated ploy by the Labour Party.

Prime suspect in this has to be Gordon Prentice MP who seems especially vindictive on the subject of Lord Ashcroft.

I am sure this is nothing at all to do with the fact that Prentice has a marginal seat and we all know where Ashcroft's donations have been targeted!

I am quite disappointed by all of this for a couple of reasons.

I have some time for Gordon Prentice, who seems to be an independently minded back bencher and just the sort of MP that parliament needs if it is to reassert it's usefulness.

However on this subject I suspect Prentice has let his personal situation - the threat to his job - unduly influence him.

I also thought that the PAC Chairman, Tony Wright MP, was above playing politics like this.

Anyway, well done to Charles & his colleagues (David Burrowes and Ian Liddell-Grainger) for refusing to participate in this nonsense.

As I write England are playing a "Test" match against Bangladesh and our batsmen are enjoying some gentle batting practice against the worst bowling attack I have ever seen in international cricket.

The score is currently 546 for 4 with 2 English batsmen with hundreds, one out for 99 and another with a half century.

Apart from the dreadful bowling the Bangladesh teams fielding has been really appalling.

Cricket lovers all around the world must look at this and wonder why on earth Bangladesh enjoy Test Match status - at the very best they are about minor counties level.

I am sure that other teams must love playing Bangladesh - easy runs to boost batting averages and lots of "cheap" wickets.

Games like this demean the history and integrity of Test Cricket.

If I had my way I would strike the records of every game Bangladesh has played from the official test match records and adjust playing averages accordingly.

For the record Bangladesh have played 64 test matches, winning 3 (Against Zimbabwe and a very depleted West Indies team).

They have lost 55 matches (33 by an innings).

The muppets who run international cricket are now planning to grant test match status to Kenya another minnow of the world of cricket and apparently Ireland want to play test matches.

In the 10 minutes I have been writing this England have run up another 35 runs - great stuff.....................
