Richard & Judi
It probably won't be a great surprise to you to learn that we met through the Post Office whilst both working in the main branch in Enfield Town.
We were married in St Mary's Church In Cheshunt in May 1991 and now feel that the Cheshunt area is very much where our "roots" are.
We are both Governors at Fairfields Primary School and Nursery on Rosedale Way in Cheshunt where Richard is the Chairman of the Curriculum Sub Committee.
We have also recently (April 2010) joined the governing body at Arlesdene Nursey School & Childrens Centre on Blindman's Lane in Cheshunt Central ward.
We are supporters of various animal charities - notably The Dogs Trust, The Cats Protection League and The Blue Cross.
Our Politics
Well of course we are both Conservatives and are perhaps best thought of as being to the "centre - right" of the party.
We strongly agree with the 9 core principles of the Conservative Way Forward Group.
Nationhood Each nation must be free to determine its policies to the benefit of its citizens
Freedom For responsible individuals, guaranteed by the rule of law administered by an independent judiciary and minimal state activity
Democracy The exercise of political power, with the consent of the people – through regular elections on the basis of universal suffrage and a secret ballot
Security The first duty of the state is to provide external and internal defence of the citizenry
Community Defined by geography, tradition, inheritance and sense of identity
Capitalism The most effective system of wealth creation. Free markets are blind to gender, race, class or religion
Choice For individuals must be maximised – even if the state accepts responsibility for provision of a safety net
Enterprise Fostered by a low tax, low inflation economy – with currency exchange rates determined by the free market
Deregulation Domestic and global – to maximise freedom of choice and individual responsibility in an improved society
We are proud to serve our community as Conservative Councillors and will continue to help the Conservative Group on Broxbourne Council maintain it's record of delivering excellent services to our community whilst setting amongst the lowest levels of council tax anywhere in the country.
